Survivors, loved ones to celebrate fight against heart disease and stroke "wherever they are"
Central Indiana residents will get out and walk or run "wherever they are" Saturday, Sept. 12 for the annual American Heart Association Heart Walk and 5K Run. The event celebrates survivors of heart disease and stroke while raising money for the ongoing battle against the No. 1 and No. 5 killers of Americans.
This year participants are encouraged to walk "wherever they are" instead of gathering in one location. They are asked to contribute to the community experience by sharing photos on social media with the hashtag #IndyHeartWalk.
The American Heart Association will hold a live yoga session at 8 a.m. on Facebook (@IndianapolisAmericanHeartAssociation) and an Opening Ceremony at 9 a.m. on Facebook.
The Heart Walk is expected to raise $700,000 to fund research, education and community programs to help people live longer, healthier lives.
Individuals may make donations to support the life-saving mission of the American Heart Association at
