Poetic Thoughts - a poem for lucious newsom - by C.W. Pruitt II
posted: Mar. 20, 2015
Many considered Indianapolis resident Lucious Newsom a saint. His compassion and generosity were legendary.
Below is a poem I composed about what Lucious Newsom considered his greatest strength.
the world's greatest beggar:
a poem for lucious newsom
the world's greatest beggar
needs no introduction
(or at least he doesn't want one)
he just wants an opportunity
to get in front
of the congregation
and beg
beg them to laughter
beg them to tears
make them weep
you get them weeping
and they really
loosen those purse strings
the poor of the world
need relief
and it just may take
the world's greatest beggar
to get us there
