First was for property located at 5901 College Avenue. This was a follow-up from the previous meeting. The plan for the building at Kessler and College, that currently houses Fox Glass Studios, is to reconfigure it into three retail spaces. Ambrosia Restaurant is to move from the current Westfield Boulevard location into the middle space of this building. Small retail stores would be selected for the remaining spaces. The petition before the City of Indianapolis is to rezone the parking lot section of the property from D-5 to C-3.
The committee voted to support this proposal.
Last was for the property located at 6340 Ferguson Street. Audio Solutions, currently located at 64th and Guilford Avenue, plans to move into this building after renovating and adding a second floor. There was much discussion about this unusual block on Ferguson that leads to the canal. Some members of the committee felt that the guidelines of the Envision Broad Ripple plan should be implemented in this project. That would include restructuring the parking on Ferguson and adding sidewalks. Others felt that this would be an unnecessary burden for this project in this specific block of Ferguson. The committee voted to support the project with stipulations of following the Envision plan if the adjoining property at 815 Main Street becomes retail.
The next meeting of the committee is scheduled for April 23, 2013, at 6pm. The public is always welcome to observe.
