posted: Jul. 08, 2011
The Nora branch of the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library, located at 86th and Guilford Avenue, celebrated 40 years of service on Saturday, July 2, 2011. In the morning there were activities for kids in the parking lot. In the evening the Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra performed inside. Both programs were made possible with support from The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.
The 18,500-square-foot Nora Branch opened on July 1, 1971 on a 2.56-acre lot donated by Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Eiteljorg. Among the most active of all Library branches, the Nora Branch saw over 286,000 visitors and circulated nearly 600,000 items in 2010.
