posted: Mar. 14, 2008

Pro Winds woodwind and brass musical instrument showroom opened at 5412 North College Avenue in January of 2006. While Yamaha saxophones and Bach trumpets are among their best sellers, their selection is as diverse as the customers who purchase them. Pro Winds is also one of the largest woodwind and brass instrument retailers on the Internet.

Pro Winds is located at the corner of 54th and College Avenue.

Indianapolis store manager Rich Dole said, "We do have a lot of professional musicians purchase instruments, but most of our business is students focusing on musical instrument upgrading. Not all of them play in college, though they need a better instrument for their high school years and beyond", he added. Dole is also an Assistant Band Director at Park Tudor School.
Composed of a musical family, his parents are string players. Taking his cue from them, Dole started playing the violin at age three and the piano at age six before learning the tenor and bass trombone. He graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor's degree in trombone performance and a master's degree in jazz studies.
Bassoons, clarinets, English Horns, flutes, oboes and piccolos, along with the four different types of saxophones (alto, baritone, soprano and tenor) are part of their woodwind product line. Buffet, Jupiter, Selmer Paris, Yamaha and Yanagisawa are among their woodwind models.
