Random Rippling - Sunday Music at McDonald's
posted: Mar. 10, 2006
Dorothy Thacker invited me to the Sunday afternoon music program at the Broad Ripple McDonald's. She attends every weekend, and tipped me off that this was to be Matt Stokes' last time to host the piano event. McDonald's plans to continue the Sunday open piano afternoons, however.

Dorothy brought a cake for the occasion and wrote a special poem.
Sunday at McDonald's
Sunday at McDonald's
What a joy it's been for me
The music while we ate
Thanks to Matthew and the rest
Such delight it's no debate
From the music yes, I'd hum
Even danced - just twice
Listened while the children played
Couldn't duplicate - no dice
Recitals - numbered 11 or 12
Also jazz bands played
Several excellent musicians charmed
And their talents displayed
But the credit goes to Matt
Worked to make it nice
Publicity couldn't help the cause
An interview at any price

Matt Stokes has been organizing the Sunday afternoon piano music for three years. "We've had almost 100 different programs in here with over 500 kids," said Matt. "I've had over 1000 people on the piano in the three years we've done it. It's been fun. Next we are looking into doing some Saturday programs at the Chatterbox or the Abbey downtown." Matt is currently working on the Teen Arts and Music Festival 2006, which is scheduled for June 24 at the Wayne branch of the IMCPL.
To contact Matt about the festival or other music programs you can email him at mcstokes@att.net or visit his website, www.mattstokesmusic.com.
