A bird list can become quite a treasure. When friends of mine moved into their new Wisconsin home, they discovered in a kitchen drawer a wonderful list of all the birds the former owners had seen on the property for 20 years. My friends then proceeded to check off repeat birds and record their own new birds. Keeping a log can be an indicator of how observant and aware you are. Such a list also can be a delight to share with neighbors, children, grandchildren, and future owners of your home.
