Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Pacers Bikeshare Expand Free Community Bike Ride Series This Summer
posted: Jul. 02, 2026

Indianapolis Cultural Trail Inc. announces the 2026 series of free community bike rides designed to showcase how easy it is to experience Indianapolis by bike. June through September, the free guided bike rides will take participants through Indy's' most vibrant neighborhoods, cultural destinations and greenways, all connected by the 10-mile Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene and Marilyn Glick. The rides are 4-10 miles, fun and social and designed for beginner riders to build confidence riding in the city.
Two new themed rides join the lineup this year. Pedal & Play offers a family-friendly bike ride that encourages kids and caregivers to explore parks, playgrounds, public spaces and other destinations together. Bikes & Blooms highlights the beauty of the native gardens along the Indianapolis Cultural Trail led by members of the horticulture and landscape team. Each themed ride provides fun, welcoming opportunities for riders of all ages and experience to connect with Indianapolis by bike.
The series is made possible through support from the PNC Foundation, whose investment helps expand access to healthy recreation and community connection for people of all ages and abilities.
"Strong communities are built when people have opportunities to connect with one another and with the places they call home," said Jason Eckerle, PNC regional president of central and southern Indiana. "We're proud to support a program that makes outdoor recreation accessible while encouraging exploration, wellness, and a greater sense of belonging throughout Indianapolis."
Ride schedule:
  • No Spandex Required Rides: Every Saturday at 1 PM
  • Bikes & Bakeries: 6/27, 7/25, 8/29, 9/26 at 10 AM
  • Roast Rides: 7/11, 8/8, 9/12 at 10 AM
  • Pedal & Play: 7/18, 8/15, 9/19 at 10 AM
  • Bikes & Blooms: 8/1, 8/22, 9/6 at 10 AM
"Every day, we see how the Cultural Trail and Pacers Bikeshare transform the way people experience Indianapolis," said Kären Haley, executive director of Indianapolis Cultural Trail Inc. "These rides are about much more than recreation. They're about helping people feel connected to their city, discover new places, meet new people, and build confidence on two wheels. Thanks to the PNC Foundation's support, we're able to make these experiences free and accessible for everyone."
Bring your own bike, or a limited number of Pacers Bikeshare bikes will be available with registration. Pacers Bikeshare adaptive bike reservations are also available. Rides are free, but registration is required. Ride schedules, registration information, and event details can be found at http://www.indyculturaltrail.org/bike-tours-rides.
