Slapfish Adding New Location in Meridian Kessler
posted: Mar. 05, 2026
Owners of local seafood restaurant Slapfish are excited to announce plans to open a fifth Indiana location in the Meridian Kessler neighborhood of Indianapolis. The nearly 2,000 square foot space - at 115 E 49th Street - will include an outdoor patio in both the front and back of the building, with enough seating for up to 60 people inside and 100 total patrons when the patio is open. Restaurateurs Mark and Lauren Weghorst signed the lease this month and plan to start renovating the space this spring before opening in the fall.
Slapfish is known for its innovative, "boat-to-plate" seafood dishes, including the Lobster Roll and Power Bowl. Other items on the menu range from the popular Clobster Grilled Cheese to the Lobster Grinder and Blackened Grouper Sandwich. The new Slapfish location will be in the same spot as the former Apocalypse Burger, across from Cafe Patachou and Sullivan Hardware.
"Meridian Kessler is the perfect spot for our fifth location in Central Indiana and our first in a true neighborhood setting," said Mark Weghorst. "Slapfish is all about bringing families and friends together, so it was a natural fit for a walkable neighborhood with a close-knit community."
Mark and Lauren opened their first Slapfish location in Noblesville in 2019. Slapfish on Mass Ave in Downtown Indianapolis opened in 2020, Slapfish Fishers opened in 2023 and Slapfish at Market District in Carmel recently opened in December 2025.
Slapfish offers a kid-friendly menu, gluten-free menu and full catering menu.
