Suckerpunch Collective announces fine art debut show
posted: Feb. 05, 2026

The Suckerpunch Collective announced their first fine art group show as an organization, premiering Friday, February 13th, at Just Pop In, located in Broad Ripple at 6406 Cornell Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46220. The show runs one night only, that evening from 5pm to 9pm.
Styled as an "anti-Valentine's Day" showcase, and leaning into the superstition of Friday the 13th as a beacon for bad luck, a dozen artists of the collective will confront the "fiscal obligations" surrounding a commercialized Valentine's Day.
Similar to the show's theme, the collective's name plays with the notion of disillusionment derived from a system that entangles creativity with capitalism.
"We're leaving that behind in lieu of continuing on our own path," founder Matthew Aaron explained. "A sucker punch seemed more polite than flipping anyone off. We mentioned the theme for the show and all of the artists were immediately inspired to create new work for this premiere. That level of passion is part of why this group came together in the first place; why it works. And obviously, there's popcorn."
About the Suckerpunch Collective
The Suckerpunch Collective is a "secret" society for incorrigible creatives. To help promote the members and grow the community, this collective group showcases the multitude of talent in different age brackets and communities throughout Indianapolis.
"By pooling our resources together, we have been granted opportunities that continue to lend themselves to success in not only our current endeavors, but also in our future ones," Aaron said. "By allowing our artists a safe community to turn to, we can celebrate each artist's individuality and growth as a collective win. There's an overwhelming amount of talent within this city and an underwhelming amount of support that has continued to plague all creative fields."
The Suckerpunch Collective is composed of sixteen Indianapolis visual artists working in an array of media. Those artists are Matthew Aaron, Gigi Busenbark, Kent Brinkley, Sarah Rae Cote, Corey Ewing, Susan Fleckenstein, Joy Hernandez, Amy Lashley, Matthew Macklin, Kwazar Martin, Michele McAtee, Mike Meares, Travis Owens, Charlie Parish, Nathan Winship Smith, Shelle Wright
"The talent within this group is simply undeniable," Aaron said. "Our hope is that this is just the first of many pop ups that we're looking to feature across the city until we're able to find a brick-and-mortar location for the SUCKERPUNCH Collective to call 'home.'"
