Historic Ad - Parr's
posted: Dec. 19, 2024
This ad for Parr's ran in 1922 announcing "The War is Over" and groceries were readily available again. The store was at 6364 Bellefontaine Street (pronounced BELL-FOUNTAIN), probably where the parking lots are today on the southwest corner of 64th and Main Street. But, it is difficult to tell if that address was north or south of Main Street because of the renumberings and razings that have occurred over the years.
The ad mentions flour, 24 pounds for about one dollar, and soap for 4 and a half cents! Maybe no one bought one bar, but how would you get change for that?
