posted: May 13, 2021
On April 28th, 2021, while at the memorabilia signing luncheon at Plump's Last Shot, 6416 Cornell Avenue [D5 on
map], I met a Sculptor, David M. Layman (pictured with the model of the sculpture).

He brought in a model of a statue that is going to be erected in Mishawaka, Indiana, at a place called Marvin's Garden, named after the late Coach, Marvin Wood, coach of the 1954 Champion, Milan Indians. The statue features Coach Wood, standing with the basketball, Gene White holding Bobby Plump on his shoulders as he is cutting down the net, and Ray Craft kneeling with a tape measure. The statue will be 1 and 1/4 life size scale when erected late Fall of 2021.
Five of the remaining players of that championship team were there along with one of the cheerleaders. The team was there along with several people from the Milan Museum.
Team members (pictured Rear L-R) Rollin Cutter, Ray Craft, Bobby Plump, Gene White, and Roger Schroder (in Front) Cheerleader, Patty "Bohlke" Marshall.

The team members signed photographs, basketballs, copies of the book Hoosiers, (as we all know the movie Hoosiers was written and produced by Angelo Pizzo and it was based on the 1954 Champion Milan Indians), and other items. These memorabilia is sold to raise funds to keep the museum alive. For more information about the museum, purchase memorabilia, or just to donate go to
