Work Begins on Second Phase of Keystone Avenue Rehabilitation Project
posted: Apr. 15, 2021
The Indianapolis Department of Public Works (DPW) started work on the second phase of work to rehabilitate North Keystone Avenue. Traffic will see temporary lane closures in place between 65th Street and River Road from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction during construction. Work may also occur on Saturdays with similar traffic patterns. Keystone Avenue is expected to fully reopen in late October, weather permitting.
This second phase of the Keystone Avenue rehabilitation follows work that began in 2020 from 39th to 65th streets. This year's $5.3 million phase will be divided into three segments: 65th Street to River Road; River Road to Woodfield Crossing; and Woodfield Crossing to I-465. Work includes concrete pavement patching and reconstruction, new ADA ramps and curbs, crosswalks, sidewalk repairs and drainage improvements. Young trees within Keystone Avenue medians will be fenced for protection from possible impact prior to the start of work.
Following completion of the second phase this fall, the total project will represent an investment of more than $13 million by Indy DPW to rehabilitate nearly 32 lane miles of Keystone Avenue from 39th Street to I-465.
