Back To The Void
In November 2007, I wrote and article for the Broad Ripple Gazette entitled Russell Johnson, writer's block, and me. The article followed an interview I did with the local musical legend Russell Johnson. He said that some of the most meaningful material is written in the dark and that one must not fear writing through the dark stages.
My recent poem (below) is roughly consistent with what Russell Johnson said to me in that interview:
From The Void
missing something
something not there
or perhaps something
that never existed at all;
there is a void -
impossible to get at
an unreachable thing:
this is not a lament
for from the void
we create
