The Arts Council of Indianapolis programs
posted: Aug. 13, 2020

The Welcome Race Fans project - in partnership with the IMS, they are selling fine art prints of Welcome Race Fans posters from the past five years of the project plus posters from the 2020 series of signs. It's a fundraiser that runs through Aug. 31 with all proceeds going to the artists who created the signs and to Phase II of the Indy Arts & Culture COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund. That fund will provide grants to artists to cover basic living expenses, plus help them build innovative new revenue streams. I can send you artwork and connect you with one of the artists.
In partnership with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful they have a project called Indy Art & Seek that will feature more than 100 new "art interventions" of engaging and accessible public art in all media along urban streets, as well as 6 new, large-scale long-term installations in several of KIB's new or legacy GreenSpaces. An interactive map and mobile app will guide participants through the experience, revealing locations and spaces that prior to the project may have little or no public art. Some of the art is already up; other installations are being placed throughout the month. It is hoped that Indy Art & Seek will encourage neighborhood residents to see their surroundings in new ways, and will motivate local and community-based artists to use existing conditions as inspiration to create something fun, thoughtful, whimsical, or beautiful for people to find. A mobile app will launch in Sept.
The Indy Arts & Culture COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund, which gave 950 rapid-response grants of $500 each from March through May to help local artists cover their basic needs and is preparing to enter Phase 2 of supporting local artists. The need to support local artists as they continue their passion and weather this extraordinary time as 79 percent of Indiana creatives have been negatively impacted by COVID-19, and 53 percent have reported a significant loss of income.
