Paws to Read, March 17, 24 & 31 from 6 - 7 p.m. Beginning or reluctant readers ages 6 - 11 are invited to read to a registered therapy dog who loves to listen to stories. It's a great way to improve a child's reading skills and self-confidence. Register online or call the branch at 317-275-4410, ext. 4.
Storytime Train, March 18 at 10:30 a.m. Preschoolers 2 and 3 years old an adult are invited for stories, songs movement, crafts and STEAM activities.
eBook Tinker Station, March 18 & 25 from 2 - 4 p.m. Learn how to read, watch and listen on a PC, tablet or phone, as well as search and download materials from the Library's extensive collection of eBooks, eAudiobooks and digital music. The Tinker Station is staffed by an eReader expert who can answer questions about the equipment and collection. The Tinker Station Helpline is also available to answer your questions at 317-275-4500.
ABCs of Diabetes, March 18 & 25 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Adults are invited to a free, four-part diabetes education series instructed by the Marion County Health Department. Topics include eating healthier, increasing activity, taking medications, and preventing complications. Attendees should plan to attend all four sessions at a given Library location.
Computer & Internet Basics, March 17 from 9 - 10 a.m. Learn the simple components of using a computer, including the mouse and keyboard, and basic skills required to search the Internet. Included are hands-on exercises and take-home instruction sheets.
Baby Storytime, March 17, 24 & 31 at 10:30 a.m. Babies up to 24 months and an adult are invited for stories, songs, fingerplays and fun! Each session is followed by playtime with special toys designed just for babies.
Beginner's 2010 Excel, March 12 & 19 from 9 - 10 a.m. Learn how to organize and analyze numbers and text in a spreadsheet.
IndyPL Seed Library: Seed Starting, March 14 from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. Individuals of all ages are invited to learn how and when to plant seeds to start growing plants indoors for transporting into the garden. This program is presented by Purdue Extension Master Gardeners Deb May and Deanne Heidrich.
Yarnslingers, March 17 from 6 - 8 p.m. Knitters, crocheters, and fiber artists of all kinds are welcome to join monthly to meet, work on projects, share their recent creations, and discuss fiber arts. All skill levels are welcome.
Count Me Indy! Census 2020, March 23 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Have your questions answered and receive assistance in filling out your 2020 Census form by representatives from CountMeIndy and the U.S. Census. The Library's free access to computers will allow you to fill out your Census form online.
Fruit and Veggie Yoga, March 25 from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Preschoolers ages 3 - 6 are invited to join the Marion County Health Department for a fun and interactive read-aloud story program focused on gardening and plants. This will be followed by children learning yoga poses based on various fruits and veggies and a snack with healthy fruits or veggies.
JumpBunch Preschool Sports Programs - STEM Fit, March 28 from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Preschoolers ages 3 - 5 are invited to join JumpBunch of Indianapolis and challenge themselves to use force, distance, counting and imagination to participate in different sports activities. Registration is required for each child attending. Parents need not register themselves.
Tortilla Cooking Class for Kids, March 31 from 2 - 3 p.m. Children ages 6 - 12 are invited to join Nutrition Services of the Marion County Health Department for a hands-on tortilla-making experience and cooking lesson.
