WANTED: 24 Hour Haunts (from 2008)
Modern Times Urban Truck Stop and Paco's Cantina were two of my favorite establishments over the last ten years. These 2 places had 2 important things in common:
1. They were small businesses.
2. They were open 24/7.
The small business angle allowed for originality and creativity. Modern Times had mystical books on their shelves which no corporation would dare touch. Plus, their food choices were unique. Paco's had banana sauce for their pizza which tasted exquisite at 4 in the morning.
The vibe generated by a place that never closes is worth preserving. Being able to drop in at any time for a cup of coffee or a meal is a nice luxury. Socializing, writing, drawing, thinking, and collaborating are good to do at all hours. I lament the days (and nights) that we could do these things in Broad Ripple.
I know a lot of people in Broad Ripple who pine for an original 24 hour place. If you feel the same, send us your sentiments. You will find many sympathetic ears.

Paco's Cantina at the 737 Broad Ripple Ave location [H3 on map]. It was also once at 723 Broad Ripple Avenue, today that is One Up Arcade Bar.
