Race for the Cure Fundraiser
Saturday, March 3, 2018
Blind Owl Brewery
5014 E. 62nd Street - all-ages, free, 2 - 6 pm
I just love this fundraiser and am always sad that I have to run off to my Red Key shift before it's over. This event is the only reason that I own a beautiful robin's egg blue Kate Spade purse. Hardworking volunteers have been gathering the goodies and putting together awesome baskets. You pop your raffle ticket in the cup of the basket you'd like to win. There will also be a 50/50 and other fun ways to donate. Bring your cash - it's all for a great cause and you'll never meet a nicer group of people.
There will be delicious beer (it's a brewery after all) and a limited food menu available. I hope to see you there!

Dollyrots with guests Bomb Cats and Mr. Hipster
Thursday, March 8, 2018
Historic Melody Inn
3826 N. Illinois Street
21+, $8 advance/$10 day of show, 7 pm - 1 am
The Los Angeles based Dollyrots are kicking off their 2018 tour and the release of their new album at the Historic Melody Inn. I've been lucky enough to see the pop-punk band a couple of times and the show is always energetic and big fun. While the Dollyrots have tweaked their lineup in the last 16 years, the core has been Kelly Ogden (bass, vocals) and Luis Cabezas. (guitar, vocals). They have played thousands of shows, produced dozens of recordings, and are parents of two kiddos.

Ennis Clare at Indy Folk Society
Sunday, March 11, 2018
Bethlehem Lutheran Church
526 E. 52nd Street - all-ages, free, 2 - 5 pm
Kick off Saint Patrick's Day week with Ennis Clare, Indianapolis's own traditional Irish band. The band - Erik Peterson, Maggie Davis, Dmitri Alano, and Mario Joven - promises a foot-stomping grand time.
Erin go braugh!

Not-for-profit director by day, music writer by night, Nora Spitznogle reviews music that happened and previews music and events around Broad Ripple Village. Nora managed CATH Inc coffeehouse at 54th Street and College Avenue for seven years. During that time she hosted hundreds of local and touring musicians, both at the coffeehouse and her home. When CATH closed in 2004 and the music was no longer coming to her, she had to wander from her corner of Broad Ripple to see what is happening elsewhere. You can find her at Second Helpings during the work day, waitressing at the Red Key on Saturday nights and prowling Broad Ripple music venues the rest of the time.
