The Broad Ripple Gazette was invited for an evening of jazz at the Vanguard, 6319 N. Guilford Avenue [G5 on map]. Live jazz is now offered on Sunday evenings in the restaurant. As of press time, selections from Vanguard's new menu are available on Devour Indy. This reporter enjoyed Vanguard's amazing fried chicken while listening to a classic jazz set by Premium Blend.

Many readers will remember this space as Usual Suspects (and long ago it was The Parthenon!), before it was transformed into The Vanguard about a year ago. Downstairs is the long-popular Casba club. Over the coming months, Vanguard will redo that space to create a new venue for music throughout the week. The Casba will be rebranded and the Gazette will bring that news to you as it unfolds.
