Can Do Wine
If you're heading to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday, remember that glass bottles aren't allowed in your cooler. Not a problem if you want to pack soda or beer. But what about wine? Oregon's Union Wine Company offers up a tasty selection of pinot noir, pinot grigio, bubbly and rose in its UNDERWOOD label wines in a can. Francis Ford Coppola's "Sofia" Blanc de Blanc mini's are cans of bubbles that come with a bendable straw for sipping. Indiana winery Mallow Run offers hard cider in a can. Think of it as adult apple juice made from a blend of apples from Adrian Orchards in Indianapolis.
When you get home from the track, twist open a bottle of the new Apothic Rose. It's tart crisp dry pink wine. Made from a blend of Tempranillo and Grenache it offers up aromas and flavors of black cherry, wild strawberry and a hint of lychee. Affordable and widely available.
