BR State Rep to Lt. Gov race
Our state representative, Christina Hale, is resigning to run for Lieutenant Governor. The IBJ reports that Indiana Recycling Coalition Director Carey Hamilton is seeking to replace her on the Democratic ticket. Apparently the party gets to decide on Hale's replacement.
Connie Eckert is the Republican candidate. Broad Ripple is in House District 87. Best wishes to all three women.

Bus routes simplified, service to Butler added
IndyGo's new transit center opens June 26, 2016, and this means big changes to the two routes serving BR.
The new Julia Carson Transit Center is located on Washington Avenue just south of the City County Building. Here are the changes-
For Bus #17:
No longer serves Kessler Avenue between College Ave. and Keystone Ave.
Inbound route: Rural > Kessler > Keystone > Broad Ripple > College > Mass. > Alabama > Transit Center
Outbound route: Transit Center > Delaware > Vermont > Mass. > College > Broad Ripple > Rural
Half the #17 buses coming from downtown used to use Kessler to go to Glendale before going to Broad Ripple. It was confusing and made a slow trip slower. Also, the bus made a loop downtown before heading north. These changes will be an improvement.
For Bus #18:
Now goes to Butler University en route to BR from or to downtown
Discontinues select trips to 91st St./Meridian St.
All trips terminate at Keystone at the Crossing
No longer serves Central Ave.> 52nd St.> Pennsylvania St.> 38th St. inbound and outbound
No longer serves the Downtown Loop
Routes 18/26 Sunday North Loop: Will no longer serve Westfield/91st St.
Inbound: Keystone Crossing > 86th > College > Westfield > Illinois > 49th > Sunset > 46th > Illinois > 38th > Capitol > Maryland > Alabama > Transit Center
Outbound: Transit Center > Delaware > Ohio > Illinois >46th > Sunset > 49th > Illinois > Westfield > College > 86th > Keystone Crossing
This route has been totally re-done and now serves Butler University from Broad Ripple. Given the number of students coming to and from BR, this is a great addition.
IndyGo also has discontinued the downtown loop on this route which added 20 minutes to your trip. However, if you were going to the Capitol, it was handy.
Also, some of the trips went to 91st/Westfield while others went to the Mall. Having just one destination makes more sense.
See the details at www.indygo.net.
