Star Wars Returns

I was driving home from downtown one night last week when I spotted an inflatable Yoda with a Santa cap on its head. My how times have changed since the first Star Wars movie debuted in May of 1977.
I had just turned 13 and my brother was 10. He collected all of the Star Wars action figures. And the official display set, which was made of cardboard and featured a platform for each of the characters. He kept it set up in our basement where we would let them hang out with my Barbies, and take rides in the Barbie camper and be guests on the Barbie airplane. I'm not sure at what point my mom boxed it all up and sold it in a garage sale.
Of course I was too young to DRINK wine then, but on special occasions my parents always let me and my brother have a sample of what they were drinking. Christian Brothers white wine was always my favorite.
1977 was a pretty good year for wine around the world and a vintage year for port. I did some vintage chart researching and found that if for some reason you still have a bottle of 1977 wine from the Tuscany region of Italy, or the Rioja region of Spain or a Napa Cabernet Sauvignon from that year, it might still taste pretty good.
Best bet would be a 1977 port from Portugal. It was deemed a "Vintage" year which is quite unusual, and means the conditions were near perfect and wines produced that year would continue to be delicious for years to come. Warre's and Graham's were two of the most accoladed from that year.
George Lucas, the famed creator of the Star Wars series, has owned a winery and vineyards in California since the 1990's, not surprisingly called Skywalker Vineyards. I have not tasted any of its wines, but do know that Lucas' friend and fellow film maker and winery owner, Francis Ford Coppola loaned him his winemaker to get things started, and I am a big fan of the Coppola wines, so I imagine the Skywalker wines are tasty too. www.skywalkervineyards.com
