Pressing Palms For Jazz Singers
Below are two poems for jazz singers. Al Jarreau and Billie Holiday have, at times, brought out the worshipful in me.
seeing al jarreau

u.s. tennis courts
he namasteed
his way off the stage
and bowed deeply
at our exit -
the holy man
(the first i had seen)
had just
passed below us

i would have to
call this
worshiping
at the temple
