"We are a full service funeral home. We have a state of the art crematory, a modern prep room for embalming, we provide pre-arrangement planning consultations and we have our own fleet of limos and coaches. We are licensed with the State of Indiana and have two locations. We opened our facility on the east side two years ago that is located at 1775 Sherman Drive. This is our central location for preparation and cremations. Six months ago, we decided to open a satellite office in Broad Ripple. I have lived in the Broad Ripple area for over 25 years and wanted to serve families that live here. Our Broad Ripple office enables us to meet families and provide them with all the services a large funeral home offers yet at much more affordable prices," she explained.
"My background is in physiology. I worked for the Marion County Coroner's Office assisting with autopsies. I went to Vincennes University and studied Mortuary Science. And, for eight years, I worked for Leppert Mortuary in Nora as a funeral director and as a mortician where I learned every facet of the business from one of Indianapolis's most respected funeral homes. The decision to open Albertson's Metro Mortuary on Sherman Drive was driven by the idea of offering more economical and affordable funerals by keeping our overhead costs low and passing along those savings to our families. We have funerals in churches, parks, homes, etc. In other words, 'We bring our funeral home to your neighborhood.' People may not be aware of where they can have funerals and oftentimes are not aware that they can make economical choices for their loved one's funeral. We specialize in thinking outside the box. We try to make people happy and celebrate lives and be as intimate, personal and unique as possible," Ms. Albertson said.
Theresa Kolter, Office Manager at Albertson's, added, "It's so true, Tamara gives them options throughout the entire funeral arrangement process. She really puts herself in their shoes and helps them make decisions based on their needs rather than what is best financially for Albertson's Metro Mortuary. One year ago, Albertson's reached out to serve the Indianapolis Hispanic community."
Ms. Albertson met Maritza Morales through a mutual friend. "Maritza is bilingual and worked in Hospital San Javier in Guadalajara, Mexico. Maritza assisted American and Canadian families in sending their loved ones back home. Maritza uses those same skills in reverse as a Family Advisor with us assisting Hispanic families with their funeral needs. In addition to helping me with Hispanic families, Maritza also works closely with the Mexican Consulate," Ms. Albertson mentioned.
Ms. Morales added, "It is an honor and a privilege to help families from my homeland. Our culture is much different than the U.S. culture when it comes to cremation, visitations, burials, etc. and sending loved ones back to Mexico can be very time consuming and can be more complicated."
"Albertson's is blazing the trail in the funeral industry with a new concept. We help families save money by providing funeral service options that are both economical and affordable. We are completely transparent with our pricing. There are no hidden costs. Funerals don't have to be expensive. They can be affordable without sacrificing quality or customer service. Finally, we add a 'Woman's Touch' with our funeral home. The staff is made up mostly of women. The funeral industry is changing and we believe that Albertson's Metro Mortuary is leading the change in Indianapolis with a 'Woman's Touch' and educating families on more economical funeral options," Ms. Albertson noted.
