We have a lot going on in the Ripple.

Enroll by March 14 for free or low cost health insurance
Lack health insurance? An emergency room visit could easily top $6,000. Don't forget to enroll by March 14, 2014, if you want health insurance this year on the Health Care Exchange. Enrollment ends March 14 (for coverage starting April 1). After that you won't be able to get insurance until next year on the Exchange.
I am selecting the Anthem Gold Plan on the Health Care Exchange after using the Community Clinic on Broad Ripple Avenue across from the high school. They have 2 doctors and a nurse practitioner that provide top notch service. (You get a free annual physical if you enroll in an Exchange Plan.)
Go to www.healthcare.gov to enroll in either the Anthem or MDWise Plans (the only 2 offered in Marion County).

Holliday Park Trail Run Coming March 22
Don't miss the Holliday Park Trail run on March 22, 2014. Register at www.tuxbro.com. This event benefits the Friends of Holliday Park and includes a 5 mile course as well as a one mile run for kids (and a tot trot).

New Student Exhibit at Art Center
The new exhibit at the Indianapolis Art Center has opened, the 76th Annual Student Show. Works of students enrolled during the last 2 years are featured. Note that students refer from persons 9 to 90 years of age. It's a juried show.

Get Out of the Ripple-Escape to Palm Springs, California
Sick of winter? I just returned from a long weekend in Palm Springs where it was 80 degrees every day. I rented a bike at Bike Palm Springs, hiked up the Museum Trail, explored Joshua Tree National Park (with wildflowers in full bloom), and more. It is just $5 to swim at the Palm Springs City Pool (Olympic size). Plus plenty of golf and tennis. I paid $127 each way (out on Delta through Salt Lake City and back on United through Chicago).
Hotels include the Courtyard by Marriott, Best Western Plus Las Brisas, (around $159 for 2) and the Motel 6 Downtown (from $48).
Great restaurants including Sherman's Deli downtown.
Take the #14 Sun Line bus from near the airport to your hotel for just a $1 or come over from LA on the Metro Link to Riverside (then catch the Sun Line Bus). You can also take Amtrak via Fullerton (daily with bus connection) or 3 days a week from Union Station in LA (details at www.amtrak.com).
