Taste of South America: A Culinary Adventure for a Great Cause
What do WTHR Weatherman Chuck Lofton, Chimichurri sauce, and wines of South America have in common? The Ronald McDonald house of Indianapolis of course! It's time once again for the annual wine and food event that benefits the essential work of the Ronald McDonald House on the IUPUI campus. Each year guests have the opportunity to "taste" their way thru a culinary and musical presentation of a foreign land. This year it is South America. I have traveled to the wine regions of both Chile and Argentina where the land is lush and exotic and the food is fresh and delicious and the people are welcoming. Oh yes, the wines. Well- some of the most ripe and ready for enjoyment with friends and food. That is how I would categorize them. And I would return to those countries in a moment. And you can get a "taste" of it all without the jet lag or airport hassle next month.
On Friday November 2, 2012, at the Indiana Roof Ballroom guests will sample dozens of wines from Argentina, Chile and Brazil while they indulge in exotic and delicious dishes from these countries including Papas Fritas; Skirt Steak with Chimichurri & Empanadas; Espetinhos - Brazil's version of shish kabob;and the Sweet Essence from Paradise, -- Plantains, Mangos and Passion Fruit .
While you eat and drink you can also SHOP! The Mercado del Puerto Silent Auction Market Place will offer over 95 tantalizing packages of fine wine collections; travel escapes to Martha's Vineyard, Chicago, New York, Hawaii; *Broadway shows, Colts tickets and sports collectibles; unique Chef's dinners and in-home wine tasting experiences; holiday décor and gifts; gourmet goodies; tastes and treasures from around the world.
Entertainment will sizzle with performances from recording/performance artist Anita Hall and Brazilian pianist Eugenio Urrutia-Borlando. Cathy Morris will once again dazzle guests with her Brazilian jazz showcasing Argentine violin and guitar. And get a lesson in the tango from the 5 Star Dance Studio.
And don't forget Chuck! Emceeing the evening and leading the Brazilian Carnaval Dessert Parade will be WTHR SkyTrak weatherman for Eyewitness News Sunrise, Chuck Lofton.
There are still seats available and can be purchased on line at www.rmh-indiana.org or by calling 317 267 0605 ext. 227.
This is truly one of the best wine/food combinations in the city. I will be there pouring wine and marching in the parade with Chuck.
