Random Rippling - Optimist Club Children's Bureau picnic
posted: Jul. 20, 2012
The Optimist Club of North Side Indianapolis held a picnic for the children and foster families from the Children's Bureau on Sunday, July 1st, 2012, at Opti-Park in Broad Ripple. The kids did not seem to notice the heat. They were busy playing games, getting their faces painted, making bead bracelets, painting pots, and playing on the playground. Plenty of food was provided for the families and the volunteers and everyone enjoyed the shade under the shelter. The Optimist Club is an organization focusing on youth programs. The picnic, owning and maintaining the Opti-Park, with its playground and ball field, are examples of the community projects initiated by the club. The club meets at the American Legion at 65th and Westfield on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. Anyone interested in the club and its volunteer activities is invited to join the club for lunch.
