Old Town of Broad Ripple Meeting Minutes #129

The Town of Broad Ripple was incorporated in 1894, and started holding regular meetings at that time. In each issue, I will print my transcription of the old Town of Broad Ripple meeting minutes. These are taken from the original, hand-written minutes that contain many spelling errors. I have transcribed all the records as they were entered, including errors. I will make some corrections to the text in brackets [ ]. The original minutes books are at the Indiana State Archives at 6440 E. 30th St.
Town Marshal gets raise to $30 per month
Here is the one-hundred twenty-ninth installment:
Aug 5th 1902
Board of Trustees of the Town of Broad Ripple met in regular session all members present. Minutes of meeting of July 24th read and approved.
The following bills were read and allowed.
Chas. Savage $1.05
James K. Smith $9.00
Richard Johnson $9.00
Chas. Jackman .50¢
Henry Adkins .50¢
Carmel Lumber Co. $6.50
Geo B Melick $30.00
Chas. Roberts $1.50
The Malott Coal & Lime Co. $65.95
The clerk reported the sale of the old bridge lumber to Gus Barthel for $16.00
Marian Whitsel was instructed to make up the Road Tax List for the town. The clerk was instructed to arrange a meeting with officials of the St Car Co and the town board to go ____ Shelby Street and look after repairs of same. The board adjourned to meet in special session Friday evening Aug. 8th to consider the matter of granting a franchise to the Broad Ripple Water Co. (written above - CH Peane & GW Shuts ?)
