Poetic Thoughts - Mortality - by C.W. Pruitt II
posted: Mar. 16, 2012
I wrote the following poem while I was watching the movie 'Harold and Maude'.
I have seen the title 'Mortality' for so many poems over the ages that 'Mortality' appears immortal.
Mortality
this life here
is but a blip
on the screen
but stretches out
due to
the suffering
our mortality
provides urgency
by encouraging
us to
'get 'er done'
before the end
and because
life is merely
a series of moments
mortality beckons us
to be a part of them
