Old Town of Broad Ripple Meeting Minutes #127

The Town of Broad Ripple was incorporated in 1894, and started holding regular meetings at that time. In each issue, I will print my transcription of the old Town of Broad Ripple meeting minutes. These are taken from the original, hand-written minutes that contain many spelling errors. I have transcribed all the records as they were entered, including errors. I will make some corrections to the text in brackets [ ]. The original minutes books are at the Indiana State Archives at 6440 E. 30th St.
Silvey becomes board president
Here is the one-hundred twenty-seventh installment:
May 6th 1902
The Board of Trustees of the Town of Broad Ripple, Ind. Met in regular session.
Mr. J.H. Brady being the only absent member.
Jno. O. Brenneman was selected President Protem.
The minutes of Apr. 1st read and approved.
The following bills were read and allowed and orders drawn on the Treasurer for the same.
Jas H Brady $6.00 services to date.
C.L. Kirk $18.75 { Six months services $9.00, _____________ 2 tins $4.00, Paid men for pumping Apr. 30th $15.25. Total $19.25.
Geo. B. Melick $25.10 Services to May 1st and supplies furnished.
A special meeting of the Board is called for Tuesday evening May 13th to allow bills and for the new Trustees from the 2nd and 3rd precincts to qualify, and make annual settlement with Town Treasurer.
B.J. White paid the Town Board $1.00 office rent for the month of April 1902.

May 13th, 1902
Board of Trustees of the Town of Broad Ripple met in special session all members present. Minutes of May 6th read and approved. The following bills were allowed.
C.W. Silvey services to date $6.00
John O. Brenneman services to date $6.00
E.H. Pursel services to date $6.00
R.C. Light 11 doz. Mantles and 1 ____ _____ $25.37
Treasurer E.H. Pursel filed his annual report May 14th, 1901 to May 14th, 1902 showing
Total receipts to be $1228.96
Total expenditures $1044.81
Balance on hand $184.15
And on motion of Jno. O. Brenneman the report was accepted.
J.O. White was sworn in as Trustee for the Second District and Marian Whitsell as Trustee for the Third District. On motion of J.O. White C.W. Silvey was selected as President of the new board and that the 1st Tuesday night in the month be the regular meeting night.
