The Indianapolis Jazz Fest is set for Saturday, September 18, 2010, from noon to 10 pm. This year the fest has been moved to Broad Ripple's Optimist Park, located just south of the Indianapolis Art Center at 67th and College Avenue. A preview of the fest was held Friday, September 10, 2010, at the Glendale Marsh Supermarket. The south end of the deli area of the store was packed with jazz lovers. Free Jazz fest tickets were available in exchange for the Gazette coupon. Vendors gave out free samples of foods. (Pssst, Marsh: This would be a great thing to do at various times throughout the year.)

The schedule for the 2010 fest is: noon-1:30 pm High School Jazz Showcase winners from the Ball State HS Jazz Band Competition - Bloomington North High School and Kokomo High School, 2 pm Owl Studios All Stars (Steve Allee, Rob Dixon, Mike Clark, Fareed Haque, Derrick Gardner, Pharez Whitted, Cynthia Layne, Frank Smith, Mark Buselli, and Brent Wallarab), 4 pm Charmaine Neville Band, 5:45 pm Mike Stern Band, 7:30 pm Al Jarreau, and at 9:15 pm Najee.
