Poetic Thoughts - Jazz History - To: Joe Harrison - by C.W. Pruitt II
posted: Sept. 03, 2010
My friend Joe Harrison is a jazz guitarist. It is always a privilege for me when Joe picks up one of my guitars and goes to work.
Joe also talks a lot about jazz. Some of it is above my head, but it is exciting to try to comprehend the nuances of jazz.
Jazz history is a topic that seems to make Joe glow. The cultural melting pot in New Orleans one hundred years ago produced music of considerable merit. Today its influence is felt the world over. And jazz seems to be here to stay.
Jazz History
To: Joe Harrison
to make a road
to build a bridge
where a road
and a bridge
never existed before
opening up personal contact
in a new way
folks intermingling
sharing cultures
blending cultures
in a way
evocative
of jazz
