Have you ever felt overwhelmed with too much information while trying to make a decision? Have you ever been in a situation where everyone has an opinion about what you should do, except of course they don't have to bear the consequences of that decision?
I'm always amazed that human beings often think that other people know more than they do about their own situations. It can be scary to be faced with making a big decision. However, too much information or input from others usually just makes it more difficult. At some point you just have to shut off the flow of outside information and look inward with meditation and prayer to discover the answer.
No one other than God and you knows what is in your best interest. Sometimes you feel called to do something different than you have in your past. It doesn't mean that you've given up being who you are, just that you're called to a different path. How boring life would be if there were no new challenges to face, decisions to make, or paths to forge.
When you get to that point in your own life, don't let the influence of others effect that decision too much. Turn off the outside world for a bit, and then meditate and pray. Don't let the chance of a lifetime pass you by while being bombarded with all the information circulating around. Shalom.
