I recently caught an interview of Neil Young by Charlie Rose. In the interview Neil Young spoke of serving his musical gift. When his gift called, he must set everything aside and work for it.
The poem below was inspired from that interview:

The Gift
To: Neil Young

you wonder
if it will ever
come back again
then you anxiously await
the return
of the gift
then you pray
in vain
for it to
run through you
once again

then finally
in a moment
of solitude
it rolls
in floods
through your being

once again
you are filled
with gratitude
to be a servant
of the gift
