Poetic Thoughts - Artistic Encouragement / A Satisfying Finish - by C.W. Pruitt II
posted: Oct. 16, 2009
The two poems below I wrote on July 10, 2009.
The first poem I composed in my head on my way to Abstract James Horn's apartment. I was thinking about the oil painting I was getting ready to work on. I was also considering the joy of painting in general.
The second poem I wrote a couple of hours later. James seemed quite content as he cleaned his brushes after finishing a large abstract (no surprise) oil painting.
Artistic Encouragement
I think we all
need encouragement.
There are some
who claim
that they require
no human praise.
Perhaps they are right.
But when the
loaded brush
strikes the canvas
pleasingly
it provides
encouragement.
This is what
I mean.
We all need encouragement
to grow
in a
more beautiful
way.
A Satisfying Finish
He cleans his brushes
after another
artistic foray.
For the artist
it has been
another good day.
