Paw Patch Place in the Uptown Center

The Paw Patch Place Animal Hospital at 4850 College Avenue recently installed awnings and a sign with their new logo. Paw Patch Place took its new name (formerly Paw Patch) in February when Dr. Penny Dowden, DVM, bought the veterinary clinic from Dr. Erik Tysklind. Dr. Dowden had worked for The Paw Patch for 16 years, most of them at the Broad Ripple location (originally at Kessler and College before moving to 49th and College).

Paw Patch Place is a full-service veterinary clinic. This includes wellness services such as vaccinations and heartworm prevention, dentistry, and surgeries. Dr. Shelly Zacharias, DVM, joined the practice in April. Dr. Zacharias has a background in internal medicine, geriatrics, and emergency medicine. She also specializes in rabbit medicine. Dr. Dowden showed me one long-eared bunny patient currently in recovery.
Dr. Dowden is also experienced in alternative medicine for animals. She explained that while conventional medicine works best for a quick fix, alternative medicine is often better for chronic issues.
Animal massage therapy is a new service at Paw Patch Place. Starting in September, Rachel Kinser is available every Wednesday. Rachel is certified and is trained for equine and canine, both performance and maintenance therapy.
Paw Patch Place will participate in the Paws in the Park event on October 10 at Broad Ripple Park. Bring your pet and visit their booth. I'll see you there!
