Random Rippling - BR Peace Jam held at Glendale library
posted: Aug. 21, 2009
The Broad Ripple Peace Jam was held on Saturday, August 15, 2009, at the Glendale branch of the Indianapolis Marion County Public Library. The Jam featured both spoken word and musical performances.
The event was organized by the Indy Artists' Peace Project. Their mission statement:
The Indy Artists' Peace Project is a community of Indiana based creative artists who have dedicated themselves to the work of peace, nonviolence and social justice. We reject all methods of war, violence and torture as a means of social change and call upon our political leaders to work towards sane, practical and peaceful solutions to the ills of the world. We are non partisan, self supporting and not funded by or affiliated with any political party. We are inclusive of people of all religious traditions and believe deeply in the strength of diversity. It is our goal as an organization to entertain the mind with quality performance art while also stirring the soul with a strong message of peace and reconciliation.
Patchwork performed at the Peace Jam.
The Peace Project is always looking for artists and performers who want to use their talents to help promote this mission by participating in upcoming live events.
