Random Rippling - Utility construction work around Village
posted: Nov. 21, 2008
Have you noticed the heavy machinery digging at Carrollton and Broad Ripple Avenue? That work is the Water Company moving water mains in preparation for the major repaving project that is set to occur from College Avenue to Keystone Avenue along Broad Ripple Avenue in 2009.
Kit Werbe, Public Information Officer for the Indianapolis Department of Public Works, explained that the Broad Ripple Project will go out for bid in January/February 2009. The construction activity currently along Broad Ripple Avenue is typical for the prep work needed before such a project. Werbe said the resurfacing project will include streets and sidewalks. Features of the project include curb bump-outs throughout the Village region, widening of the street near Broad Ripple Park, and a straightening of the Evanston intersection. The two to three million dollar federally funded project is projected to be completed by Fall 2009.
