Life's Ripples from Broad Ripple United Methodist Church by Rev. Timothy Rasmussen
posted: Jun. 20, 2008
The United Methodist Church has annual conference meetings every year which are held in Bloomington. As I was leaving to come home on Saturday, it never occurred to me that there would be no way for me to make it from Bloomington to Indianapolis. What should have taken under two hours to drive took about eight. The devastation caused by the floods was more than most of us can imagine.
As active Christians we have great intentions of helping those in need, and often those intentions are carried out. There are times though that we feel overwhelmed because the need is so great and we just don't know where to start. That kind of conflict in our lives can usually only be settled with some sort of action on our part, regardless of how big or small the action.
One thing that we all can do that doesn't take much time and means so much to so many is to give blood. On June 22, 2008 in the church parking lot located at 6185 Guilford Avenue the Red Cross will be conducting a blood drive from noon until 4 p.m. This blood drive is being sponsored by Broad Ripple UMC, and the Broad Ripple Village Association. Please consider giving the gift of life.
