Random Rippling - Alley Cat celebrates 30th anniversary
posted: Feb. 29, 2008
The Alley Cat, located in the alley behind the post office in the 6200 block of Carrollton Avenue, had a 30th birthday party on February 22, 2008. That Friday marked 30 years of operation under the same family ownership. Before it was the Alley Cat, it was Harriet's Hideaway Tavern.
Free dinner was provided for all guests that evening. The middle pool room had its pool table converted into a regular table to hold the salad, bread and cake. Four soups were also offered. Later in the evening a buffet dinner was served.
While at the Alley Cat for the party I met Jack McIntosh. He had just finished a sketch of the bar. "Mad Jack" is a member of the band Rhythm Wreckers.
