A Christmas Day fire at Brandon Hair Designer filled College Avenue with emergency vehicles.

"One of my neighbors called me Christmas morning and told me my house was on fire," recalled Brandon Carroll. "I said that was a terrible joke. But it was no joke." The salon, located at 6025 College Avenue, was badly damaged by the fire.

"The tenants upstairs lost their cat. The heat must have been intense - my civil war swords in the basement were bent and sagging."

Carroll has been styling hair on College for 24 years. He will set up temporarily at another salon in Broad Ripple while repairs are made. The temporary location was not decided at press time. Clients can call 255-9979 to schedule appointments.
