Random Rippling - Residents and Businesses competed for decorating prizes

A new holiday tradition in the Village began this year: the lighting of the tree at the fire station and the Broad Ripple Lights Up! residential and business decorating contest. At 7 pm on December 14, 2007, about 100 people gathered around the fire station. The Shirley Judkins & Friends band played Christmas songs from the fire engine bay.
The residential decoration winners were announced. There were three categories: Artistic-Christopher Feltman 6065 Gladden Drive, Traditional-Don and Clare Acheson 6027 Gladden Drive and Zany-Jay Wetzel and Friends 6194 Primrose Avenue.
There were four categories in the business decoration contest. Most Creative-Broad Ripple Animal Clinic 6225 N. Broadway Street, Best Represents the Business-gingko 908 E. Westfield Boulevard, Best Represents Broad Ripple Village-Bazbeaux Pizza 811 E. Westfield Boulevard and People's Choice-The Potter's House 6503 Carrollton Avenue.
Santa arrived via horse-drawn carriage and drew the winning entry from the Broad Ripple Village punch card contest. The decorated tree at the fire station was lit at 7:30. More details of the event can be found on page A6.
