Top floor of Veranda building provides Village vista
posted: Nov. 16, 2007
On Sunday, November 11, 2007, Gary Thrapp held an open house to show off the final portion of his latest Broad Ripple development located at 65th and Carrollton Avenue, the Veranda. The bottom three floors of the Veranda are now occupied, leaving only the fourth floor, with its desirable balcony, available for leasing.

An elevator leads directly from the ground floor into this approximately 30 foot by 50 foot space. Three sets of french doors open out onto a balcony (or veranda) with a spectacular view of the north end of the Village. Thrapp, owner of G. Thrapp Jewelers at 56th and Illinois, described some possible uses for the top floor of the Veranda.
"I think this space would make a great high-end sushi restaurant or a boutique law office, spa, or a New York-style loft apartment."

Long-time residents will remember when this structure was a seemingly forgotten steel skeleton. Thrapp purchased the eyesore and developed it into the Veranda after clearing the hurdles of zoning and parking.
The Veranda has 26 parking spaces. The parking situation was eased when the Veranda property added the property next door that had been the Golden Thimble. The land behind the newly-acquired historic house will be finished for additional parking and the house will become an art gallery. For information on the Veranda, contact Gary Thrapp at (317) 459-2916.
