Speed left in dust by Wolves - By Ashley Plummer

The Indiana Speed met their match at the fifth game of the season against the Wisconsin Wolves with a loss of 29-0.
What initially appeared to be a game that would keep the audience members on their toes with a close score and even match ups, seemed to end when the Wolves scored their first touch down in the second quarter and never looked back.
While the Speed's offense seemed to be lackluster in the first half, the defense managed to hold the Wolves at the one yard line through three first downs. Ashley "Goodyear" Johnson was a definite standout on the defensive line during this possession and also when she recovered a Wolves fumble at their own 40 yard line a little bit later in the second quarter.
Johnson's fumble recovery appeared to possibly give the Speed what they needed to get back in the game, but even her gracious efforts on defense could not give the offense the needed ability to make a connection.
The Wolves managed to score two touchdowns in the second quarter, putting the Speed down 14-0 before the halftime mark. A Speed highlight from the second quarter included Angela "Kappa" Thompson's interception of Wolves' quarterback Petra Olsen's pass to Steffes McGee.
After the halftime show (which featured the Indianapolis Dog and Disc Club), the Speed seemed to continue losing momentum. The Wolves scored two more touchdowns, leaving the Speed helpless to come back in the little time left.
The Speed's next home game at Broad Ripple High School is October 6, 2007, against the Carolina Queens. Be sure to come out and support these ladies-they hit just as hard as the guys, if not harder.
