Life's Ripples from Broad Ripple United Methodist Church by Rev. Timothy Rasmussen

Everything about the west fascinates me. The wide open spaces, the history and the stark beauty of the land call to me. Many times I have joked that I was born a century too late. I think I would have made a great mountain man and would have loved living that kind of life. On our recent trip out west, I discovered that my wife had thoughts of walking around the wooden walkways of a western town dressed in long frilly dresses, enjoying the slower pace of the western life.
As much fun as it is to fantasize and enjoy such thoughts, my belief is that I was born exactly when I was supposed to be and that I am where I am supposed to be at the present time. God has a plan for our lives and we function best when we follow that plan. God has given us a choice and a free will to go in any direction we want, but we aren't as productive as we could be when we start deviating from God's plan for our lives.
To find God's plan for your life, spend some time around people who know Him. Have them pray for you and don't be embarrassed to ask them about their relationship with God. Spend time reading the Bible and then pray that God opens your eyes to what you have read so that you'll have understanding.
There is no big secret or special formula for discovering a peaceful walk with God. It just takes a heart that desires to know Him and a mind and body that will follow the heart's desire. There are plenty of people in this community whose heart's desire is to know and follow God. Seek them out. They'll be thrilled to tell you their stories.
