The Death of St. Francis of Assisi
As St. Francis was on his deathbed, the physical pain was great. But it was overwhelmed by psychic pain and regret. His followers had split into two factions unfriendly to each other.
The poem below is about the gentle monk who died with heavy burdens:

after the schism
in the Franciscans
poor St. Francis lay dying a miserable wretch
he saw himself
after all his effort trying
now that was St. Francis
Lover of God, man, and beast speaker to hearts of
the greatest and least
fortunately at last deceased In glory with God
and in us glory increased
