Life's Ripples from Broad Ripple United Methodist Church by Rev. Timothy Rasmussen

Life's Ripples header

"Peace on earth." We hear that phrase quite often this time of year, and most of us probably long for it to be true. Our first thought usually is that war will cease, whatever war "du jour" rages, and that would be a good thing.
However, there is very little we as individuals can do on a global scale to accomplish that goal. There is, though, much that we can do on a personal level. Our lives can be very hectic, but we can learn to slow down. Much of the peace Christ talks about is in our hearts and souls. We can develop a meditation attitude, or an appreciation of the natural world. Relaxation of mind can go a long way to bringing about a sense of peace.
If we really want peace, we need to be proactive. In relationships, especially in our own homes, we can treat each other more peacefully, with a sense of respect and dignity. If everyone practiced that everywhere, it would be a more peaceful world, and just maybe it would usher in Peace On Earth.
