Random Rippling - Panda and Angel Indy CD and Vinyl in-store show - by Ashley Plummer
posted: Nov. 03, 2006
On Thursday, October 26, 2006, spectators at Indy CD and Vinyl were taken back to the mid-nineties underground scene with indie-rockers Panda and Angel.
With a sound similar to the likes of Sunny-Day Real Estate (or more recent, The Casket Lottery), audience members were treated to a show by a band where the majority of the members were female.
The female vocalist, Carrie Murphy, not only played catchy riffs and melodies, but also sang in a voice that reminisced of Dolores O'Riordan (but possibly a step lower) from The Cranberries. She started the band off with a few slower numbers involving an overdose of harmonics.
Songs sang by her male-counterpart (Josh Wackerly) would have been at home in a Midwest indie film. They tended to be a little more upbeat than hers, as most of his singing was resorted to yelling (but in a good way).
