Poetic Thoughts - Two poems - Changing / Remembering - by C.W. Pruitt II
posted: Oct. 06, 2006
I am an old-fashioned kinda guy. My grandfather was old-fashioned (and he was 80 years older than me). Being heavily influenced by him, you can say that I am a throwback. I spend a lot of time lamenting what once was.
The two poems below represent an effort to bridge the past with the present:
changing
re-arranging
drawing from the past
traditions updated
a new die is cast
yesterday is over
today is fading fast
solutions are needed
that will forever last
til made
to fade
then begin
born again . . .

Remembering
Dismembering
Reflections
from way back
when
times were better
to the letter
and to the nth degree
Perhaps drawing
from our personal histories
and bringing together
what we remember
will make us
a little more free
