Old Town of Broad Ripple Meeting Minutes #57

The Town of Broad Ripple was incorporated in 1894, and started holding regular meetings at that time. In each issue, I will print my transcription of the old Town of Broad Ripple meeting minutes. These are taken from the original, hand-written minutes that contain many spelling errors. I have transcribed all the records as they were entered, including errors. I will make some corrections to the text in brackets [ ]. The original minutes books are at the Indiana State Archives at 6440 E. 30th St.

Broad Ripple
13th Sept 1897
The Board met in regular session Mr. Gresh & M.R. Lickins present also N.B.G. Florander.
On motion of M.R. Lickins All Sons & Sr Morgason were allowed $1.25 for services at the BRipple fire also N. Brehard 65¢ for services on ____. On motion of M.R. Lickins L. Pierce as Marshal was allowed from 10th Aug to 10th Sept $30.00 for service.
On motion of M.R. Lickins, The deputy Marshal (F. Sheels) salary $22.50 was allowed for 18 days work.

The Board met in regular session all present
On motion of N.B.G. Florander a bill for $1.25 was alowed Richard Roberts for tiling [crossed out] work on culbert
On motion of N.B.G. Florander a bill for $1.35 for use of Public Telephone was alowed
On motion of M.R. Lickins the Marshals salary $25.00 from the 10th Sept to 10th Oct 1897 was alowed
On motion M.R. Lickins a bill for $4.75 for rent of house for fire apparatus from the 6th May to 1st Oct 1897 and one rod of 8 inch tile was alowed C.L. _______
